Chilling in a tree

This beautiful beast was pottering along a track at Enoggera reservoir. A Magpie was disapproving of its proximity to her eggs as the lizard climbed the tree.

I have, on occasion, been accused of goosing the saturation a tad. This one is exactly as the data left the ccd.

If I had $300 million I might actually buy something like this.

The tall ships are all Dutchmen, together on a circumnavigation. Their next port will be Valparaiso, or Port Stanley – depending on weather.

The lake at the Botanical Gardens is a magnet for small children with bags of stale bread. Because of the artificially raised nutrient levels, the bird population density is higher than the birds’ territorial behaviour can tolerate. This leads to conflict.

The platform in these pictures is a floating drainage point for level control. The moorhens used it for their nest site this year (two chicks out of seven still about.) The cormorants use it as a drying-off spot. This moorhen suspected nefarious intentions involving eggs.

We sat in the shade as the moorhen became increasingly agitated, 200mm lens in fast-capture mode. Rewarded.

I’ve spent a rather pleasant Sunday afternoon sitting on the deck reading reports of storms and chaos in the UK.
